Biographical / Historical

C. Howard Lungren (b. 1855) and Rebecca C. Allen were married in Philadelphia in 1880. They moved to Swarthmore in 1901 and lived at 230 Rutgers Avenue. They had eight children including Emma Dallas Lungren who was in the Class of 1914, Swarthmore College. Their daughter Rebecca married Dr. William A. Raiman in 1879. The Raimans lived at 501 Harvard Avenue, and the house remained in the family until 2001. Two sons served in Company H, Pennsylvania Reserve Militia.

Processing Information

The collection was received unsorted. It was processed and described in 2002. The 1924 Directory was transferred to Swarthmore Historical Society Reference files and the early photograph of the Methodist Church transferred to Swarthmore Borough Pictures

Provenance: The collection was given by the grandson of Dr. William Raiman when the family home was sold..
