Abstract

This collection includes papers relating to Rachel H. Roberts and her family. Included is correspondence between Esther Hunt Collins and her first husband, Joshua Hunt, his brother John, her children Elisha, Caleb and Rachel, her second husband, John Collins, and Hannah Yarnall. Also included is correspondence between Rachel H. Roberts and her husband, David. The collection includes genealogical information on the Roberts, Hooton, and other related families, along with wills and account books of Joseph and Susanna Roberts. Letters relate family news, impressions of Redstone Monthly Meeting of Friends, and discussions of Quaker discipline.

Biographical / Historical

Rachel H. Roberts was a birthright Quaker. The daughter of Joshua and Esther Hunt, she married David Roberts, the son of Joseph and Susanna Roberts. She died in 1881. Her mother, Esther, was born in 1751 and after the death of Joshua Hunt, she married John Collins. Elisha and Caleb were two of her seven children. She died in 1820.
