Biographical / Historical

Winifred Rawlins (1907-1997) was a Quaker poet and activist. She was born in London in 1907 and came to the U.S. in 1957. From 1952 to 1966, she was the head resident at Pendle Hill, the Quaker Study Center, and subsequently served as director for several Friends' homes for the aged. She taught briefly at Friends World Institute. She was a dedicated pacifist and environmentalist; she died in 1997.
