Biographical / Historical

The Association of Friends Schools was a Hicksite organization that was formed in 1900 with the purpose "of increasing the interests of teachers, parents, and members of the committees in the general cause of education, and particularly in the work of our own schools." The membership was composed of all teachers of Friends schools and others interested in education among Friends. The Association held general meetings at which prominent educators presented lectures and worked closely with the Committee on Education of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (Hicksite).
