Biographical / Historical

American Women for Peace (AWFP) was a women's group that was closely linked with a group supporting the Stockholm Peace Petition. The group took part in the Chicago Peace Conference in 1951, where they held a meeting and voted to set up a National Board of American Women for Peace. They went on record to hold the National Women's Peace Congress in Fall 1951. Branches included Chicago Women for Peace. American Women for Peace merged with American Peace Crusade, with whom it had shared offices since 1951, in November 1953. Also included a special committee called US Committee for Participation in World Congress of Women.
