Biographical / Historical

Delaware County Campaign for Peace & Justice; formed in September 2001 to respond to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and the subsequent announcement of a "war on terrorism" by the United States government; based in Delaware County, Pennsylvania; initiated by four existing Delaware County peace groups: Brandywine Peace Community, the Swarthmore-Delco branch of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, the Peace Center of Delaware County, and the Delaware County Pledge of Resistance, and several concerned individuals including Swarthmore College students; principals included Sue Edwards, Marj Fulmer, Elizabeth Hansen, Robin Lasersohn, Terry Rumsey and Bob Smith; the group formulated responses to war, terrorism and civil liberties and promoted peace walks and vigils, discussions, and protest actions; changed name in 2002 to Delaware County Wage Peace & Justice.
