Biographical / Historical

The Committee on Indian Affairs of New York Yearly Meeting was re-established at the Yearly Meeting in 1952. Its primary purpose was to keep Quakers informed of the problems facing Native Americans, with a particular interest in pending legislation. It also provided scholarship aid to Native American students. Meetings were held on the call of the Clerk, usually at least twice a year, during the sessions of Yearly Meeting and in conjunction with the... December Meeting of the Representative Meeting.

In 2023, the committee renamed itself the Indigenous Affairs Committee. It is currently under the Witness Coordinating Committee, and receives support from the Sharing Fund.
