Biographical / Historical
A counseling service, inspired by the one active in Philadelphia YM, was proposed in 1976. In 1979, Ministry and Counsel established an Oversight Committee for the counseling service, initially scoped to provide referrals for short-term counseling that would complement the supportive ministry already offered in Meetings. The Counseling Service operated through 1999, primarily as qualified counselors who volunteered or were appointed by Oversight, and donated their time. The Counseling Service Coordinating Committee was laid down by Ministry and Counsel in 1999.
