Biographical / Historical
Patuxent Friends Meeting considers itself a successor body to the first Patuxent Meeting (1871-1942). Patuxent Friends began as a worship group in 1980 and were organized as a Preparative Meeting under the care of Annapolis Monthly Meeting in 1981. Patuxent was granted Monthly Meeting status in the 1995 Annual Sessions of Baltimore Yearly Meeting.
While the first Patuxent Meeting’s meetinghouse has been torn down, Patuxent Friends Meeting took ownership of its historic burial ground in 1999 (previously under the care of Adelphi Monthly Meeting), and purchased its own building to use as a meetinghouse in 2001.
