Biographical / Historical

In 1747, land was bought in the Patapsco Forest for the purpose of building a meeting house. A meeting was held under the care of Gunpowder Monthly Meeting. Known originally as Patapsco Forest Meeting, the name was shortened to Forest. In 1815, this meeting was joined with Little Falls Preparative Meeting to form Little Falls Monthly Meeting. Forest Preparative Meeting was formed in 1851, as authorized by Baltimore Quarterly Meeting (Hicksite). In 1927, Little Falls Monthly Meeting laid down all of its preparative meetings, including Forest.
