Biographical / Historical
Hopewell Preparative Meeting, originally referred to as Opequan, was part of Hopewell Monthly Meeting. It was probably organized at the same time as its parent by Chester Quarterly Meeting. During the Separation of 1828, most of the members of Hopewell identified themselves as Hicksite; however, a small group of Orthodox Friends re-established Hopewell Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) after 1830.
