Includes men's and joint minutes, 1876-1996; women's minutes, 1844-1902; Worship & Ministry and its predecessors, 1809-1810, 1812, 1854-1860, 1864-1916, 1938-1962; vital records, 1928-1970; financial records, 1950-1996; committee records, 1854-1856, 1950-1961, 1982-1996; and miscellaneous, 1785, 1814, 1945, 1956-1965. Most records pre-1843 (from the time when the meeting was a separate Yearly Meeting) are described in QM-By-V.

Biographical / Historical

Virginia Yearly Meeting was laid down in 1843 and was accepted as a Half-Years Meeting under Baltimore. In 1912, Virginia Half-Years Meeting became a Quarterly Meeting. Member meetings included Bethel, Black Creek, Corinth, Richmond, and Somerton. In 1965, Black Creek, Corinth, and Somerton withdrew from Virginia Quarterly Meeting and Baltimore Yearly Meeting to join North Carolina Yearly Meeting. In 1967, Charlottesville and Roanoke-Blacksburg joined Virginia Quarterly Meeting. Virginia Quarterly Meeting began meeting twice a year in 1969, and changed its name to Virginia Half-Years Meeting in 1976. It was laid down on 12mo 31 2001.
