Biographical / Historical
Mamaroneck Preparative Meeting was reportedly established in 1716 by Flushing Monthly Meeting. However, minutes were not kept until 1777. The meeting separated in 1828. The Hicksite branch was discontinued in 1865 by Purchase Monthly Meeting and then re-established in 1884; it was laid down again 7mo 1903. The Orthodox branch of Purchase Monthly Meeting met at Mamaroneck until at least 1917 though the last mention of Mamaroneck Preparative Meeting is in 1912. It is unclear when it was laid down.
