Biographical / Historical

The exact starting date of Manhasset Preparative Meeting, then called Cow Neck, is not clear. Friends were meeting in Manhasset as early as 1702. In 1828, the Orthodox branch was laid down, leaving just the Hicksite. This branch changed the name of the meeting from Cow Neck to Manhasset in 1863. In 1mo 1961, Manhasset was laid down by Westbury Monthly Meeting, and then set off as Manhasset Monthly Meeting.
