Biographical / Historical

In 1957, Wilmington Monthly Meeting appointed a Committee of Oversight to organize and oversee the development of a Meeting for Worship at Wilmington Friends School, in order to ease overcrowding at the parent meeting ; this Indulged Meeting and First Day School was referred to as the School Road Meeting. In 1962, the School Road Worship Group, with the encouragement of Wilmington Monthly Meeting, appointed a Clerk and started to hold business meetings on its own ; the Committee of Oversight was laid down in 1963. In 1974, Concord Quarterly Meeting approved the request of Wilmington Monthly Meeting to establish the School Road Worship Group as Alapocas Monthly Meeting.
