Biographical / Historical

A meeting for worship was established at Darby in 1682 by Chester Monthly Meeting. In 1684, the meeting became part of Darby Monthly Meeting.; a preparative meeting was established in 1701. In 1831, Darby Preparative Meeting (Orthodox) removed to Lansdowne; it was transferred to Chester Monthly Meeting in 1849, and to Lansdowne Monthly Meeting in 1904. The name of this meeting was changed to Lansdowne Preparative Meeting in 1924, and was finally discontinued in 1953. Darby Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was discontinued in 1898.
