Records of the Hicksite preparative meeting and of its predecessor, the pre-Separation preparative meeting. Included are: minutes,1702-1705, 1832-1834, 1854-1859, 1862-1951; burials, 1682-1919 and 1918-1929; deaths 1702-1808; membership, 1848-1887 and 1929-1930; women's minutes, 1819-1836 and 1848-1884; financial and property records; and miscellaneous papers.

Biographical / Historical

Merion Preparative Meeting was established in 1701. In 1827, at the time of the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. Merion Preparative Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1827. Merion Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was established as Merion Monthly Meeting in 1951 at the dissolution of Radnor Monthly Meeting.
