The Pledge of Resistance group in Albany, New York was part of an active nationwide network of grassroots organizations opposed to U.S. intervention in Central America. The Albany group was active between 1984 and 1993. Its members engaged in marches, protest demonstrations, extensive correspondence and meetings with legislators, fundraising activities, boycotts, and networking with like-minded organizations. Abstract
Ruth Plumley's "Lays of Quakerdom" include three sections: "The Execution of Mary Dyer," "Visit of Mary Fisher to the Sultan Mohammed IV," and "James Parnell, the Quaker Proto-Martyr." Each section includes a brief historical summary of each individual, and a narrative poem about each individual. The "Lays" describe the piety of three icons of 17th century Quakerism. The signature albums of Irvin C. Poley include autographs of famous people, particularly authors, actors, and those in government or diplomacy, primarily sent to Poley, though there are other recipients as well. Many of the instances are signatures. Some of the more well-known authors who wrote letters, rather than just signatures, often relate to speaking at an event or a fund solicitation or response to comment or request for signature from Poley.
