James Morgan Read (1908-1985) was a Quaker and president of Wilmington College from 1960-69. He also served as the United Nations Deputy High Commissioner from 1951-60, and was a vice president of the Charles F. Kettering Foundation from 1969 until his retirement in 1974. Abstract
David S. Richie (1908-2005) spent his life devoted to public service, particularly in the areas of work camps and cooperatives. A birthright Quaker, he served as Secretary of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting Social Order Committee from 1939–1973 and was president of the Board of Friends Housing, Inc. He also was involved with the American Friends Service Committee and other organizations. These papers are divided into correspondence, writings, and topical files as assembled by Richie.

Scattergood Hostel and Scattergood Friends School photographs

Abstract
Scattergood Friends School opened in Iowa in 1890. The school closed during the Great Depression, and was repurposed during World War II as Scattergood Hostel to acclimate refugees from Europe. In 1944, it reopened as a school and remains open today. The bulk of this collection is photographs of Scattergood Refugee Hostel, but there are also photographs of pre-war and post-war Scattergood Friends School.
