Vaux Family papers

Abstract The Vaux family was deeply involved with Quaker and Native American affairs throughout much of the 19th and early 20th centuries. George Vaux, Sr. was involved in Quaker activity through the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and other Quaker meetings throughout the world (including Antigua and London). Both George Vaux, Jr. and Mary Morris Vaux Walcott, his sister, served as commissioners for the U.S. Board of Indian Commissioners. Elizabeth Webb diary

Abstract

Diary of Elizabeth Webb's religious visit to the American Colonies. Diary entries describe Webb's voyage from England to Virginia, and her travels to Quaker meetings as far south as North Carolina and as far north as New Hampshire. Entries include references to places visited, especially meetings in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island, as well as religious reflection and details about the difficulty of overland travel.

Susanah Weston commonplace book
