Martha L. Deed Papers

Abstract

Martha Deed is a retired Quaker psychologist who wrote her 1969 PhD dissertation on patterns of religious commitment among Friends. She is a prolific writer, poet, and photographer whose beliefs inform her life and work. This collection includes papers and research materials in two areas, her dissertation and her edited publication, Fritz Kunkel - The Psychology of the Whole Man.

Henry Drinker Letters to Isaac Hicks

Abstract Henry Drinker (1734-1809) was a successful Philadelphia Quaker merchant and served as clerk of Philadelphia Monthly Meeting. A prominent New York City merchant, Isaac Hicks (1767-1820) was a cousin of the Quaker artist and minister Edward Hicks and of Quaker minister Elias Hicks. Drinker and Hicks were close friends and acted as business agents for each other, reflected in the 1801 correspondence.
