Abstract
Alice Hall Paxson (1868-1955) was a Quaker author and editor, of Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Thomas Heston and Lydia H. (Cox) Hall of Chester County. The family moved to Swarthmore, Pa., about 1889, and Alice graduated from Swarthmore College in 1888. In 1897, she married Charles Paxson. Abstract
The collected papers of the Sharpless and Reeve family of New Jersey and Philadelphia. Much of the correspondence is between Edward Sharpless (1831-1894), a New Jersey Quaker minister, and his sister, Anna N. Sharpless, who married John Newbold Reeve in 1857. Their daughter, Mary Offley Reeve, worked as a school teacher when young and became involved in temperance and evangelical Christianity. Ann Shipley accompanied Anna Braithwaite on her two interviews with Elias Hicks in January and March 1824, and wrote a letter, dated October 15, 1824, defending Anna Braithwaite's account of the meeting. Her diary entries detail her travels throughout Pennsylvania, including visits with Friends and attendance at Quaker meetings.
