David Bacon journal

Abstract David Backon kept a journal during his time with the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confderacy) in 1974. Entries describe Bacon’s journey to the Haudenosaunee territory, and interactions between himself and the members of the Haudenosaunee, as well as discussions between representatives from the United States and Six Nations governments concerning the treaty that was to determine the land rights of the Haudenosaunee after the end of the Revolutionary War. George Bacon diaries

Abstract

George Bacon's entries largely focus on descriptions of the weather, Quaker meetings attended, Yearly Meetings attended, births, deaths, and marriages in the Quaker community, social calls, and news of his family and business. In addition to the 17 original volumes of diaries, the collection includes a folder of partial transcripts of Bacon's diaries, some typed, some handwritten, as well as an index of journal entries by topic.

The manuscript of Gergory Barnes's "Philadelphia's Arch Street Meeting House: A Biography" provides a history of Philadelphia's Arch Street Meeting House from the purchase of the land by William Penn in 1683, to the present, including important Quaker individuals, the influence of Philadelphia's history on the Meeting House, the Orthodox-Hicksite separation, and the Wilburite-Gurneyites.

Bowles family correspondence

Abstract The Bowles family was deeply involved with Quaker missionary and relief work during the 20th century. In 1900, the Bowles moved to Japan under the auspices of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and managed the Friends School and established the Tokyo Friends Center.
