This small collection of Civil War correspondence consists of letters of a Hicksite Quaker family of West Chester, Pennsylvania, received by Eugene Vickers while he was serving with Company C of the 97th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers in the coastal South. George A. Walton (1883-1969) was the long-time headmaster of the George School, a Quaker boarding school in Newtown, Pennsylvania. He succeeded his father as headmaster in 1912 and served until 1948.
