Richard Mott Correspondence

Abstract

This collection contains a letter written by Richard Carpenter that was sent to Richard Mott in September of 1849. In the letter, Carpenter expresses the sadness of not having Motts company in his previous Scarsdale Friends monthly meeting in New York. He then describes his experience of the gathering to Mott, who resides in Burlington, New Jersey.

Carter Nash correspondence

Abstract

This collection contains the letters of Carter Nash, a Quaker inmate of a federal correctional institution in Texarkana, Texas, to Special Collections at Haverford College, regarding his religious beliefs and requests for books. This correspondence took place from 1999 to 2000. Eventually, this correspondence led to his publication of a September 2000 column in the publication Quaker Life. A copy of the column is also included.

Newlin family correspondence
