Richard Mead Atwater papers

Richard Mead Atwater (1844-1922) was the son of Stephen Atwater and Mary Weaver, both of whom were Quaker. This collection is comprised of Atwater's diary, 1862; letters concerning Brown University; club memberships and letters concerning the memberships and autobiographical remarks written in 1917 as well as an earlier biographical sketch.

Abstract

Correspondence includes letters written by Amos W. Bacon of Philadelphia to his children, to Samuel W. Bacon from his father and brother while he was at Westtown School, and a love letter from Thomas Bacon to his future wife, Elizabeth Hall. Also contains the probate copy of the will of Charles West, Elizabeth Hall's copy book, the journal of Jane Wilson Bacon, and genealogical material on the entire family.

David Bacon journal

Overview David Backon kept a journal during his time with the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confderacy) in 1974. Entries describe Bacon’s journey to the Haudenosaunee territory, and interactions between himself and the members of the Haudenosaunee, as well as discussions between representatives from the United States and Six Nations governments concerning the treaty that was to determine the land rights of the Haudenosaunee after the end of the Revolutionary War.
