Richard Hockley letterbook

Abstract

This collection is comprised of the single letterbook of Richard Hockley and contains business correspondence. The majority of letters in the volume are written by Richard Hockley on his travels for the business interests of Thomas Hyam, a London merchant. Letters are written from a variety of locations, including Barbados, Charleston, South Carolina, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

"A Short Narrative of the Life of Jane Hoskins"

Abstract

The single volume autobiography of Jane Hoskins, entitled "A Short Narrative of the Life of Jane Hoskins," details her early life, an account of her convincement (conversion to Quakerism), her passage to Pennsylvania as an indentured servant, and her Quaker beliefs and religious reflection.

William Hunt letterbook

Abstract

William Hunt's included correspondence is largely personal, though there are a few letters addressed to his Meeting. In addition to correspondence, the volume includes testimonies of Hunt's character and a short account of his travels on religious visits and his last illness and death. According to a note in the cover of the letterbook, it is believed the letters were copied by William Hunt's sister.

John Letchworth Kite journal

Abstract

Journal entries describe Quaker Meetings in detail, including the names of each person who spoke at meeting, what their message was, and how Kite felt about each particular message. In addition to detailed descriptions of Meetings, Kite's entries also include his own personal spiritual and religious reflections.
