Cooper-Richardson Family Papers

Overview

The Cooper-Richardson collection contains correspondence and family memorabilia from the Cooper family (William Evans and Sarah Matlack Roberts Cooper). The Cooper family were Quakers of New Jersey, attending meetings in the Woodbury and Byberry areas. The collection includes correspondence and family memorabilia. Of particular interest is the journal of their granddaughter, Anna C. Richardson, written on her trip to California in 1904, and the writings of Sarah Cooper.

Abstract

Correspondence and miscellaneous papers of the Cooper family of Lancaster Co., Pa. Of particular interest are letters received from Aschel W. Cooper from New Orleans (1831-39, 1856, 1872, 1880) telling of his life in that city, Sarah Cooper's letter from Haiti (1855) describing her visit, and a letter from Hiriam T. to his sister (1847) regarding placement of her children. Also includes an advertisement of the Friend's Shaul Department of Cooper and Conard in Philadelphia (1884).

The Cope family was a Quaker family of Chester County and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Baltimore, Maryland. The collection contains family correspondence, genealogical papers and legal papers, a journal (1823) of Ann (Shoemaker) Janney, and other papers of the Cope and related Shoemaker, Yarnell, and Janney families. Individuals represented include Mahlon Day, Joseph John Gurney, and John Janney.

Sandra Lee Cronk Papers

Sandra Lee Cronk was a Quaker author who co-founded School of the Spirit, a ministry of prayer and learning under the auspices of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Her papers include manuscripts of her published works, numerous unpublished manuscripts, and records of some of the workshops that she gave at Pendle Hill.

Elizabeth Cunningham family papers

Overview

Elizabeth Cunningham (1934-2020) was a Quaker who held administrative positions at Philadelphia Yearly Meeting in the 1980s and 1990s. He husband William Cunningham (1930-2019) was a philosophy professor at Cheyney University. This collection documents the couple's lives, as well as that of Elizabeth's mother Jennie Ault, with a focus on the 1950s and 1960s.

J & J Darlington Brothers Papers

Business records of the historic Delaware County, Pennsylvania, dairy farm and creamery of J and J Darlington, as well as the business records of the Darlington/Darling Post Office, about 1879-1922. The rural branch of Postal Service was established about 1879 and officially closed in 1976. The name was changed to Darling Post Office in 1896 to avoid confusion with a Darlington in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
