This collection contains a letter sent to Miriam Loughborough Vail by Martha C. Parker (her mother) and Anna Maria Vail (her younger sister) in 1846. The letter was recieved by Miriam Loughborough Vail when she was a student at Westtown School. The letter describes her mother's hopes that living at Westtown School is satisfactory. This small collection of Civil War correspondence consists of letters of a Hicksite Quaker family of West Chester, Pennsylvania, received by Eugene Vickers while he was serving with Company C of the 97th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers in the coastal South.
