Overview This photo album documents a trip to Europe in 1891. The album begins on the S.S. Waesland with many images of the passangers and crew. In Europe, Hemmenway visits Antwerp, Brussles, Cologne, Heidelberg, Baden-Baden, Pisa, Paris, London, Stratford, Chester, and Liverpool, as well as traveling down the Rhine by boat.

Francis G. Allinson photograph album

Overview Francis G. Allinson's photograph album features photographs from his travels in Europe, particularly of landscapes, buildings, ruins, and mountains. According to some of the labels on the photos, a number of photos were taken in Germany, along the Rhine river. Also included are a number of Quaker portraits, including those of Charles S. Taylor, Abraham Taylor, Lizzie Rob, Belle Pugh, Amelia Gummere, Bessie Eyre, William Kimber, Howard Taylor, Samuel Alsop, Edward Allinson, and Samuel Gummere.

Florence Bascom papers

Abstract Florence Bascom (1862-1945) was a noted American geologist, specializing in petrography. She attended the University of Wisconsin, receiving her BA degree in 1882 and her MA degree in 1884, and was the first woman to be granted a PhD from Johns Hopkins University in 1893. From 1895 to 1928, Bascom taught at Bryn Mawr College, where she established the Geology Department.
