Biographical / Historical
Edward H. (Edward Hicks) Magill was a prominent Quaker teacher and was President of Swarthmore College from 1872-1889. He was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, the son of Jonathan P. and Mary Magill of Solebury Monthly Meeting of Friends. In 1852 he married Sarah Warner Beans, and they had six daughters. Their daughter, Beatrice, married J. Campbell Robinson in 1904 at Ithaca, New York.

Abstract
