Abstract
The collection contains diaries and memorabilia of E. Mae Myers (1879-1953), a Quaker educator and graduate of the Martin Academy and Swarthmore College.

E. Mae Myers (Emma Mae) was born in 1879 in York Springs, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John T. Myers and Sarah Ann (Cook) Myers. She attended Martin Academy and subsequently Swarthmore College where she earned a BL in 1900 and A.M.. in 1912. Her three siblings also were graduate of Swarthmore College: Albert Cook Myers (1874-1960), historian; George Cook Myers (1877-1926) who married Benjamin M. Underhill, and Edith Cook Myers (1895-) who was a Harrisburg social worker and married Leonard H. Dudman. After graduation from Swarthmore E. Mae Myers taught at various Friends schools including Langhorne Friends School and Friends Select School in Philadelphia. She died in 1953, a member of Providence Monthly Meeting, Media, PA.

Separated Materials
Correspondence of E. Mae Myers's brother, Albert Cook Myers, relating to Friends Historical Society removed to process as a Small Collecction. Rough notes taken by E. Mae Myers for her theses and other unidentified rough notes were discarded. Brochures from the Friends school where Mae taught were transferred to PG2, School Reference, for better access - Friends Select School, Media, and Friends Select School, Philadelphia. Swarthmore College diploma for Harriet Jane Cox, B.S. 1887, added to Swarthmore College diplomas.
Processing Information
From internal information, the rough notes and papers of E. Mae Myers together with a folder of Albert Cook Myers correspondence were sent to the Director of Friends Historical Library after Albert C. Myers moved to West Chester, Pa. in late life. They were added to Alumni Reference in two acidic boxes. In 2017, upon review by staff, the papers of E. Mae Myers including her diaries and other papers were processed as a RG5. The unrelated correspondence of Albert Cook Myers was removed for processing as a Small Collection.
