Dave Narbeth Swarthmore History presentation collection

Identifier: SFHL-RG7-019

Scope and Contents

J. David Narbeth presented an informal slide lecture, "A brief history of Swarthmore from about 1680 to the 1930s," in September 1975 at the Swarthmore Woman's Club. It was based on photographs that he and a committee of twenty had collected. The committee included West Cochrane, Ellie Bassett, Casper and Roz Garrett, Florence Hoadley, Kay Bassett, Helen and George Warren, Marje Told, "Bus" Blundin, Cresson Prichard, Nancy Speers of Friends Historical Library, Beulah Green, and Jane Rittenhouse. In 1992 a VHS tape was created as part of the Borough of Swarthmore Centennial celebration using the original script and slides. Subsequently the Swarthmore Historical Society produced a DVD from the VHS tape.
