Biographical / Historical
Abingdon Friends began meeting for worship in the mid-2000s. In 2009, seeking to join a wider Quaker community, they requested to directly affiliate with Baltimore Yearly Meeting as a monthly meeting. In 2016, however, they felt drawn to the Quaker community of Piedmont Friends Fellowship and Piedmont Friends Yearly Meeting which is simpler in structure, smaller, and geographically closer to Abingdon, Virginia. In January 2017, Abingdon Friends withdrew from Baltimore Yearly Meeting to join Piedmont Friends Yearly Meeting (now Piedmont Friends-Yearly Meeting & Fellowship).
