Biographical / Historical
As early as 1746, a meeting for worship was established for Friends in the Goose Creek area. By 1774, this meeting was set off as a preparative meeting under Fairfax Monthly Meeting. In 12mo 1785, Goose Creek Monthly Meeting was established, including members of both Goose Creek and South Fork Preparative Meetings. Following the Separation of 1828, the meeting affiliated with the Hicksite branch of Friends. A small number of members withdrew and joined with other Orthodox Friends to establish the Hopewell Monthly Meeting (Orthodox). In 1950, the Hicksite meeting joined with Orthodox Friends as Goose Creek Monthly Meeting (United).
