Biographical / Historical

Quakers in Reston, Virginia began meeting for worship in 1974, first formally organizing as Reston Worship Group in 1979. Reston Preparative Meeting was established under the care of Langley Hill Monthly Meeting in 1981 and was granted monthly meeting status by Baltimore Yearly Meeting in 1986.

Reston Monthly Meeting purchased a building in Herndon, Virginia in 1995 to use as a dedicated meetinghouse. After renovations were complete, they held their first Meeting for Worship in the new location as Herndon Friends Meeting in Spring 1996.
