 Collection — Box: 1
Identifier: BMC-9LS-37

Scope and Contents

The Rebecca (Darlington) Mattson scrapbook is the scrapbook of Rebecca Mattson, Bryn Mawr College class of 1896. The scrapbook covers Mattson’s last two years at Bryn Mawr, from 1894-1896, and provides a unique view of the early days of Bryn Mawr. The scrapbook is housed in one volume. The scrapbook contains the usual miscellaneous memorabilia such as flyers, calling cards, invitations, programs, and small photographs. Notably, however, it has many cyanotypes and floor plans of buildings. It also has clippings of humorous articles from The College News and The Fortnightly Philistine, which give context to many other items and photographs in the scrapbook. The cyanotypes, floor plans, and newspaper clippings in this scrapbook make this volume a unique item in the Bryn Mawr scrapbook collection. The scrapbook would be of interest to anyone studying early Bryn Mawr history, especially from the perspective of student publications.
