Biographical / Historical
Established by Fairfax Quarterly Meeting in 6mo 1780, Menallen Monthly Meeting was set off from Warrington Monthly Meeting. Its first meeting was held in 10mo 1780 and included members from Menallen and Huntington. During the 1828 Separation, some Orthodox members withdrew from the meeting and in 1837 were joined to Baltimore Monthly Meeting (Orthodox), and later to Deer Creek. The majority of Quakers at Menallen affiliated with the Hicksite branch of Friends.

General
Menallen was also spelled "Monalin" in the earliest period. Vol. 1.14, 1.15, 1.16 include lists of committee members, trustees, and appropriations granted. Women's Minutes from 1846-1849 have not been located by the meeting. Vol. 3.3 is a type-written copy of volume 3.2. Vol. 4.1 includes queries. Vol. 5.2 includes an invitation to 150th anniversary and financial receipt. Vol. 5.5 includes reports to the Quarterly Meeting.
