Biographical / Historical
In 1944, some members from Baltimore Monthly Meeting, Homewood (Orthodox) and Baltimore Monthly Meeting, Stony Run (Hicksite) formed the West Baltimore Meeting of Friends. This was an Independent meeting, formed to bring Quakers to less prosperous sections of Baltimore. In 1952, West Baltimore Meeting of Friends affiliated with both branches, and began to call itself the West Baltimore United Preparative Meeting of Friends. In 1962, the remaining seven members transferred to Sandy Spring Monthly Meeting, and the meeting was laid down.
