Scope and Contents
This collection contains two issues of the Asian-American magazine, The Asian Slant.The 1994 volume was produced completely by Sony Ta. The 1996 volume has a number of writers and contributors. Each issue contains news, poetry, art, essays, and stories. The first issue also contains a word search and an interview with an Asian-American alum. A 1997 call for submissions states that in regards to submissions “Anything goes: short stories, poetry, reflections, artwork,jokes, recipes/home remedies, etc.”

Historical note
The Asian Slant: Haverford's Militant Asian Magazine was founded in December 1994 by Sony Ta, Class of 1996, "editor, designer, writer, stapler." Sony Ta created the magazine after struggling to endure “the tattered state of political activism and diversity in the Bi-College community.” Ta planned to imbue his publication with both “blatant and subtle humor.” He noted that the publication's title is a play on the multiple meanings of the word “slant” as “an opinion, racist slang, and physical feature.” It produced issues in 1994 and 1996; it is unclear if the magazine continued.
