Historical Note
The Grasshopper was created by The Everett Society, a Haverford society known for its anti-slavery sentiments and its opposition to the exclusivity of other Haverford literary societies. The members of the Everett Society referred to themselves as "Grasshoppers." This is the first issue of the Grasshopper, published as a complement to the society's other publication "The Bud." The Grasshopper, alternatively, served as a newsletter rather than a literary publication. The Grasshopper was renamed "O Tetti" in 1874.
