Biographical / Historical

The Text Book Association of Philadelphia was founded in 1866, and was located at 142 N. 16th Street in Philadelphia. The aim of the organization was to procure suitable textbooks on history – first of the United States, then of England and other countries – written as not to glorify war, and to do justice to moral causes in which Friends were interested. The Association was supported by the income of a fund given by Alfred Cope. John H. Dillingham served as secretary.
