Scope and Contents
This collection consists of materials related to Hubert Richie Taylor, a Haverford alumni and Quaker lawyer. It consists of corresondences, ephemera, identidication materials, photographs and interviews. Many of the materials relate to his time in the Selective Service as a conscientious objector, as well as his journey to law school. In addition, there is included a printed family history of the Richie family edited by one of the descendants of Francis R. Taylor, Esther T. Cornell.

Biographical / Historical
Hubert Richie Taylor (1916-1998) was the son of Francis Taylor and Elizabeth Richie Taylor. He attended Westtown School and graduated from Haverford College in 1938. He went on to receive a law degree from Temple University. He was a conscientious objector during WWII, spending 3.5 years in Civilian Public Service in Montana and Virginia. Hewas a member of Cheltenham Meeting and Southampton Meeting. He was married to Dorothy Plaisted and had four children. Throughout his life, Hubert maintained a strong connection with Haverford as his father was also an alumni of the College.

Arrangement
This collection is arranged into three main series: Correspondence, Personal, and Multimedia. The correspondence series contain folders with letters both received and written by Hubert Richie Taylor to his parents, sister, as well as other friends and colleagues. The personal series contains identification documents and ephemera related to Hubert Richie Taylor and his family. The multimedia series contains photographs as well as digital materials related to the history of both the Taylor and Savery family.
