Stan Becker papers
Scope and Contents
This collection contains the writings, correspondence and related materials of Stan Becker. The materials date from 1959 to 2018, with many of the documents concerning the issue of population growth in the 21st century. Box one holds Becker’s correspondence, primarily with Friends, and writings, which include multiple articles and a “population game.” Box two contains materials from the Homewood Monthly Meeting, such as minutes, agendas and records from the Chesapeake Quarterly Meeting. Box three consists of documents relating to Becker’s travels under the population concern. This box holds all of the Baltimore Yearly Meeting minutes (related to his travels), as well as correspondence with numerous Quaker organizations and meetings regarding his presence at their events. The final box (four) houses materials from the Peace and Social Witness committee of Homewood, of which Becker was a member. These documents are generally dated later than those of the previous boxes, regarding visits from political leaders and actions taken by the committee to address global issues.
