The photo album follows an individual's month-long journey from Chicago, Illinois, through Canada and the northwestern, southwestern, and central portions of the United States. Photographs are mostly of nature scenes, with some railroads and bridges included, as well as photographs of the Chicago Stock Yards. Many of the photos are labeled.

Abstract
"A Cross Country Trip, 1890" is a photo album that follows an individual's month-long journey from Chicago, Illinois, through Canada and the northwestern, southwestern, and central portions of the United States before returning to Chicago. It includes images from Manitoba, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, and Illinois. While on this trip, the photographer captured images of the Chicago Stockyard, various industrial complexes, wildlife, canyons, rivers, and Native Americans.
Arrangement
The photographs are arranged in a single volume. There is not a particular order to the photographs.
Acquisition
A Cross Country Trip, 1890 was donated to Special Collections, Haverford College in December, 2011 by Thomas H. Garver.
