Scope and Contents
This collection is comprised of the typed scripts of a play written by Mary Hoxie Jones, entitled "The King's Missive," as well as two copies of the program of the Annual Business Meeting and Entertainment of Friends Historical Association, and a reproduced letter with a wax seal addressed to "Carles R." and signed by "William Morris," and was presumably used as a prop in a production of "The King's Missive."

Biographical Note
Mary Hoxie Jones (1904-2003) was born in Haverford, Pennsylvania, and was educated at Haverford Friends School, the Baldwin School, and Mount Holyoke College, from which she graduated in 1926. She was a member of the Friends Historical Association from 1953 until her death, and served as both director and secretary. Jones was a Quaker historian, and wrote two books on Quaker history: "Swords Into Plowshares: An Account of American Friends Service Committee, 1917-1937," and "The Standard of the Lord Lifted Up: A History of Friends in New England, 1656-1700, Commemorating the First Yearly Meeting Held in 1661." She also contributed chapters to many books on Quaker history. From 1927 to 1939, Jones worked for various Quaker organizations in the Philadelphia area. In 1939, she joined the staff of American Friends Service Committee to coordinate the Friends Centers in Europe during wartime. She died on December 26, 2003.
