Stephen Meader (1892-1977), a Quaker, graduated from Haverford College in 1913. After college, he worked with the Children's Aid Society as a social worker, and soon took up writing stories for boys. His job with Curtis Publishing Company brought him in contact with the well-known author, Christopher Morley, another Haverford graduate. Morley helped him, and several of his books were published.
