Anne North Hinton collection on the North family
Scope and Contents
This collection is composed of three folders of Anne North Hinton's research on the North family genealogy, which was originally housed in a large binder. The collection contains photocopies of letters sent by Ann North Hinton to various archives and their responses, in an effort to discover information about the North family and other families. It also includes notes on her process and which books, archives, and repositories were of use. She was especially focused on George North (1711-1816), who emigrated from the United Kingdom to the colonies. Also included are typed and handwritten conclusions, ideas, and notes on various North family relatives she tracked down in her research, hand-drawn genealogical charts of the North family, photocopied and hand-drawn maps, notes on deaths, deeds, estates, marriages and military service in her direct line, copies of various sources, and limited notes on the Lewis, Montague, Limbert, Pitson, Pope, and Young branches of the North family, as well as North family connections in Georgia, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and England.
