Biographical Note
Walter Penn Shipley, Jr. (1897-1987), a Quaker, was born in 1897 and attended Haverford College, class of 1919. While at Haverford, he was captain of the soccer and tennis teams and a member of the Triangle Society and Founders Club. Although he did not graduate, he worked in banking and, for 20 years, was business manager of Germantown Friends School. He married Mary Strawbridge and died in 1987.
