Biographical Note

Emily Parker Simon was born in 1904. She was a peace activist and director of the Committee for World Development and World Disarmament from 1952 until her retirement in 1968. She had also been a member of the executive committee of the American section of the Friends World Committee in New York City and Baltimore, and for many years was chairman of the National Policy Committee of the Women's International League. She died in 1978, at the age of 74.

The Friends World Committee on Consultation (FWCC) was formed after the Friends World Conference in 1952 "to act in a consultative capacity to promote better understanding among Friends the world over."
